  1. Soak the lentil (masoor dal) for 2 hours
  2. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Then sauté the onion and garlic until they turn soft (for about 2 minutes)
  3. Add the spices and continue to sauté for another 2 minutes
  4. Add the carrots and sauté until they turn tender
  5. Add water, diced tomatoes and soaked lentils and stir it well. Simmer on low heat for 10 minutes, or until lentils are tender.
  6. Blend the mixture to create a creamy soup. Serve the soup with fresh lemon juice.
